the mists of avalon

“There is no such thing as a true tale. Truth has many faces and the truth is like to the old road to Avalon; it depends on your own will, and your own thoughts, whither the road will take you.” ― Marion Zimmer Bradley, The Mists of Avalon

i read “the mists of avalon” so long ago it almost seems connected to another life. it was a magical read and full of romantic ideas.  the metaphor of reality slipping in and out of sight via mists has remained with me all these years.

my understanding and knowledge of life have paralleled this coming and going that are described by the magical avalon disappearing and reappearing over time.

i am reminded of avalon and the mists that circumvent it at this crossroads in my journey. i find myself poised to expericenc validation and success while my knowledge of what has been and how i always was float in and blur what might otherwise be seen.

remaining uninvested in the outcome somehow waivers in its importance. a real challenge here is perhaps twofold. i am noticing my own vulnerability with regard to my path. the probability of self knowledge in the dance of nature versus nurtue.

“Avalon”

Now the party’s over
I’m so tired
Then I see you coming
Out of nowhere
Much communication in a motion
Without conversation or a notion
Avalon
When the samba takes you
Out of nowhere
And the background’s fading
Out of focus
Yes the picture changing
Every moment
And your destination
You don’t know it
Avalon
When you bossa nova
There’s no holding
Would you have me dancing
Out of nowhere
Avalon

  1. I love the book as well, the mystical mists and the magical shifts from mists to reality and back again are enchanting. You have claimed your own reality and what lies ahead is the reality that you have earned.

By the way, I love the music, especially the song, “Avalon.” The lyrics are sheer poetry.
